- Develop HV system layouts, design philosophies, and project‑specific electrical standards in accordance with IEC, IEEE, EN, and relevant utility requirements.
- Lead the design and approval of HV protection and control systems, including protection schemes, interlocking logic, and control architectures for AIS and GIS substations.
- Oversee the creation and review of schematic diagrams, protection and control wiring diagrams, and single‑line diagrams, ensuring technical clarity and constructability.
- Lead all HV system studies, including fault level analysis, protection coordination, arc flash studies, voltage regulation, and load‑flow assessments.
- Provide technical support for pre‑commissioning and commissioning activities, working closely with site teams through energisation and project handover.
- Act as the primary technical interface with clients, utilities, and Owner’s Engineers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with all project-specific safety, technical, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with civil and structural teams to ensure substations are designed to accommodate all electrical equipment, operational clearances, and layout requirements.
- Manage and resolve design comments and technical queries from utilities and Owner’s Engineers, maintaining structured design logs.
- Prepare and submit complete design packages for review and approval by stakeholders and utility partners.
- Develop procurement specifications for primary plant and HV equipment, such as transformers, HV switchgear, circuit breakers, earthing systems, and neutral earthing resistors (NERs).
- Participate in technical meetings with utilities and Owner’s Engineers, representing the engineering position of the organisation.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and graduate engineers, encouraging best practice and technical growth.
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on Power Systems.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar HV design role within a utility or HV contractor environment.
- Proficiency with design and analysis software such as ETAP, EPLAN, AutoCAD, CYMCAP, and CDEGS.
- Strong technical leadership skills and proven ability to manage engineering deliverables.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proactive team player with strong problem‑solving skills and initiative.
- Experience in on‑site commissioning activities is highly desirable.
