About The Role

Responsibilities

  • Legal Advisory and Support (Operations, IP & IT) – Provide practical legal advice on day-to-day operational, IP and IT matters, including contractual obligations, legal risks and risk mitigation. Identify, analyse and support the resolution of legal issues arising from Group operations, contracts, IP and IT arrangements.
  • Contract Drafting and Negotiation (Operations, IP & IT) – Draft, review and negotiate operational, commercial, IP and IT agreements, including letters of award, service contracts, procurement agreements, consultancy agreements, concession agreements, NDAs, MOBEs, software/SaaS, licensing, data and technology agreements, while ensuring alignment with business objectives and Legal policies.
  • Pre- and Post-Contract Legal Support – Review tender and pre-award documents, identify contractual risks and recommend appropriate amendments to protect the Group’s interests. Provide post-award legal advice on contract interpretation, performance issues, variations, extensions, breaches, termination, disputes and related legal correspondence.
  • Litigation and Dispute Management – Assist in managing litigation, arbitration, claims and disputes, including coordinating with business units and external counsel on case strategy, documentation and proceedings. Assist in preparing legal correspondence, pre-litigation notices and dispute-related documentation arising from operational, insurance or contractual matters.
  • General Legal Support and Internal Coordination – Provide legal support on governance processes, management and board papers, internal submissions, presentations and other operational legal matters. Coordinate legal inputs and prepare legal, litigation and dispute status updates and reports for senior management where required.
  • External Legal Advisory Management – Manage and coordinate the engagement of external legal advisors and counsel on complex or specialised legal matters. Monitor the quality, progress, timelines and costs of external legal services and ensure legal advice is effectively translated into practical business recommendations.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Business Partnering – Act as a key legal contact for assigned business units and participate in business discussions, client negotiations and cross-functional working groups. Support legal awareness and training initiatives to strengthen stakeholders’ understanding of contractual, IP, IT and legal risk matters.
  • Policy and Template Development – Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of legal policies, templates, contract review checklists, standard clauses and legal processes relating to Operations, IP and IT. Identify opportunities to improve consistency, legal risk management, efficiency and turnaround time.
  • Ad-Hoc Assignments – Undertake other legal responsibilities, projects and assignments as directed by the Deputy General Counsel / General Counsel, including providing legal support for the Group’s local and overseas operations, strategic initiatives and other emerging legal matters as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B) or equivalent professional legal qualification.
  • Admitted to the Malaysian Bar or equivalent professional legal qualification recognised in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of relevant legal experience , preferably with exposure to corporate, commercial, contract, operations, IP and IT matters.
  • Strong experience in contract drafting, review and negotiation , including commercial, procurement, service, technology.
  • Good knowledge and practical understanding of Malaysian laws, contractual principles, corporate governance and regulatory requirements .
