Direct Support Professional - Maintenance

About The Role
RESPONSIBILITES
S.A.W., Inc. is currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with adults who have developmental disabilities, providing the essential support and supervision they need to successfully complete their daily janitorial tasks at our Adult Activity Center.
Essential Job Functions
- Support and Mentorship: Provide one-on-one and group support to adults with developmental disabilities as they engage in employment training. Offer guidance, encouragement, and instruction to help individuals build essential job skills to support them in moving along their path to competitive employment.
- Skill Development: Work collaboratively with participants to develop their vocational and life skills. This includes job training for cleaning, employment soft skills, communication skills, and time management. It also includes ensuring people explore job interests and alternatives in the community consistent with the outcomes in the ISP.
- Provide hands on training utilizing the preferred learning method for each individual – hands on support, physical demonstration, pictures, technology, etc.
- Monitor proper use, storage and maintenance of equipment and cleaning products. Ensure all safety procedures are followed including performing safety meetings and drills.
- Monitoring: Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards and customer expectations are met. Address any outstanding issues through coaching and additional training. Communicate any outstanding customer issues to supervisor.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of participants' progress and ensure accurate reporting in accordance with company and regulatory guidelines. Provide written summaries of individuals’ progress at least every 12 months and assess skills/needs quarterly.
- To ensure all contract needs are met which may mean participating in completing janitorial tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Must be comfortable using computers and participating in online training and learning programs.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets the underwriting criteria of the agency’s insurance company.
- Must have reliable transportation and the ability to arrive at work on time each day.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Obtain/maintain CPR/First Aid and DODD certifications (can be done after hire).
- Ability to push/pull/lift 50 pounds.

10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Monday - Friday
