Job Summary

Leads and/or assists engineering projects focused on improving new or existing equipment and processes to reduce costs, improve quality, increase capacity, and increase customer satisfaction. Oversees project budget and timeline, securing necessary resources and driving projects to completion. Organizes and oversees the collection and analysis of pertinent data. Leads and participates in process and product validations to assure all processes comply with company specifications to include internal quality systems and external regulations(FDA/ISO). Provides input to management to support the development and application of current/new business processes.

  1. Obtains and maintains knowledge on all appropriate equipment and processes
  2. Develops, evaluates, and improves packaging and distribution methods
  3. Leads process/quality optimization/re-engineering efforts to address specific business requirements
  4. Leads projects and initiatives with a focus on reducing costs, improving quality and improving customer satisfaction
  5. Manages all aspects of a project, scope, and budget
  6. Develops scope of work for engineering studies, process improvements, installations, and for equipment purchases
  7. Leads engineering changes, writes Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and documents changes appropriately in eQMS system
  8. Leads cross functional teams to develop best practice solutions
  9. Leads equipment purchases and redesigns, including developing User Requirements Specifications (URS), conducting Factory and Site Acceptance Testing (FAT and SAT), and coordinating activities with vendors
  10. Reviews and provides recommendations on contractor bids, capabilities, and engineering feasibility of project proposals.
  11. Analyzes project return on investment (ROI)
  12. Participates in FMEA activities and process mapping activities
  13. Conducts time studies and methods analyses
  14. Utilizes a wide range of Industrial Engineering, Lean, and Six Sigma tools and techniques to make process improvements
  15. Executes engineering studies and performs accompanying data analysis
  16. Implements mistake-proofing controls to maintain or improve process quality
  17. Conducts root causes analysis to address specific process or quality problems
  18. Troubleshoots root causes of material failures and recommends changes to equipment, materials, and/or processes
  19. Assists in investigating instances of nonconformance and facilitates the determination of root cause and corrective/preventative action
  20. Works with operations teams to identify potential improvement projects, assess feasibility, and implement solutions
  21. Advises on complex issues
  22. Brings together stakeholders to solve problems and make key decisions
  23. Designs facility layout alternatives
  24. Develops SOP’s, work instructions, and other quick reference material as needed
  25. Assists in defining and measuring “Key Performance Indicators” for the facility

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong project management skills with proven ability to lead cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical skills coupled with a creative and open mind towards alternative methods
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and facilitation skills
  • Able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Technical competencies in Lean, Kaizen, and process management
  • Working knowledge of eQMS (Quality Systems) and FDA regulation
  • Follows Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, including Project and Visio
  • Present a professional and positive presence and interface with multiple roles within the CooperVision organization.

Work Environment

  • Normal warehouse and office environment with regular exposure to dust, heat and cold.
  • May be required to travel as needed

Experience

  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant working experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering field required. Industrial, Mechanical, or Packaging Engineering degree strongly preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $89,090.00 and $118,787.00 per year and may include cost of living adjustments. The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.
