What You’ll Be Doing

 

  • Manage public and environmental health risks and compliance.
  • Provide expert advice to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assess applications and ensure legislative compliance.
  • Conduct inspections, investigations and technical assessments.
  • Maintain accurate records and regulatory documentation.
  • Undertake environmental monitoring and compliance sampling.
  • Prepare evidence, reports and enforcement recommendations.
  • Represent the City in legal proceedings when required.
  • Mentor and develop students and compliance professionals.

Position Description - Environment Health Officer

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for an Environmental Health Officer to join us on a permanent basis with a passion for preventative health and community wellbeing. You’ll ideally bring:

  • Tertiary Qualification in Environmental Health ( accredited by Environmental Health Australia  - essential)
  • High-level knowledge of Environmental Health principles
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong decision-making and judgement
  • Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence
  • Authorised person under Environmental Protection Act (Desirable)
  • Local Government experience (Desirable)
  • Well-developed conflict resolution skills (Desirable)
