This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Accountant based in the United States.
This role supports essential accounting operations within a fast-paced technology and professional services <environment.You> will help maintain accurate financial records, strengthen general ledger integrity, and contribute to timely financial reporting.The position offers broad exposure to month-end close, project accounting, payroll, intercompany activity, and cost <allocations.You> will also play an important role in maintaining compliance with GAAP and government contracting requirements, including FAR, CAS, and DCAA standards.Working closely with FP&A, contracts, and operations teams, you will help ensure financial data is accurate, well-supported, and audit-ready.The role is well suited to an analytical and detail-oriented accountant who enjoys solving problems and managing multiple <priorities.You> will contribute directly to a disciplined financial environment supporting complex federal programs and mission-critical business operations.
Accountabilities
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and other documentation required for accurate financial records.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring activities are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, investigate discrepancies, and coordinate appropriate corrections.
- Support the preparation of timely financial statements, management reports, and financial analysis.
- Apply GAAP, internal accounting policies, and applicable government contracting and regulatory requirements to daily accounting activities.
- Support DCAA and financial statement audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, supporting documentation, and responses to information requests.
- Maintain fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, prepaid expense accounts, and related supporting documentation.
- Provide support across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and project accounting activities when needed.
- Record and reconcile intercompany labor, shared-service, and overhead allocations, including monthly intercompany reconciliations.
- Assist with consolidation and elimination entries across affiliated entities and ensure intercompany balances are settled accurately and on time.
- Reconcile payroll, benefits, taxes, and labor distributions while supporting labor transfers and project labor adjustments.
- Review timesheet compliance, process labor-related accounting activities, and maintain complete documentation for financial transactions.
- Perform additional accounting and financial duties as assigned based on business and project needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field; a Master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
- At least one year of experience in government contracting or public accounting.
- Strong understanding of government contracting financial structures, cost accounting principles, and compliance requirements.
- Solid knowledge of GAAP and core accounting processes, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, and general ledger accounting.
- Current CPA or CMA certification, or active progress toward obtaining a CPA or CMA, is strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate financial data and identify discrepancies or areas requiring attention.
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and technical communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to stakeholders at different levels.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proactive, self-motivated approach with sound judgment and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across accounting, FP&A, contracts, operations, and other functional teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- High level of discretion and sensitivity when handling confidential financial and business information.
- Ability to work extended hours or weekends when necessary to support project deadlines, deployments, outages, or other critical business needs.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and able to successfully complete a background screening.
