This is a customer-facing sales opportunity focused on identifying, qualifying, and developing project-based opportunities that contribute directly to pipeline growth. You will engage prospective and existing customers to uncover project scope, timelines, budgets, needs, and decision criteria. The role combines consultative discovery, opportunity assessment, CRM management, and cross-functional collaboration. You will work closely with Sales, Marketing, and Project teams to improve lead quality and conversion throughout the sales funnel. Success requires strong communication, organization, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently. This is a fully remote role offering the opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization focused on improving global water quality.
Accountabilities
- Qualify incoming project leads by engaging customers to understand project scope, budget, timelines, requirements, business needs, and readiness for sales engagement.
- Conduct consultative discovery conversations to uncover customer priorities, project drivers, technical or commercial requirements, and potential growth opportunities.
- Evaluate and validate prospective opportunities against established qualification criteria before transitioning qualified leads to field or account sales teams.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete opportunity records in Salesforce, ensuring strong data quality and adherence to established CRM processes.
- Partner closely with Sales, Marketing, and Project teams to improve lead quality, opportunity conversion, and overall pipeline health.
- Identify potential cross-sell and upsell opportunities by understanding customer needs and the broader value that available solutions can provide.
- Monitor qualification metrics and lead-quality trends, providing actionable insights to support continuous improvement of sales processes.
- Build and maintain a consistent pipeline of high-quality, sales-ready opportunities while balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced remote environment.
- Contribute to a collaborative customer experience by ensuring sales teams receive well-qualified opportunities with clear context and actionable information.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent education and relevant professional experience may also be considered.
- Experience in lead qualification, inside sales, customer-facing sales, business development, or a similar consultative customer engagement role.
- Demonstrated ability to engage customers by phone, ask effective discovery questions, identify needs, and determine sales readiness.
- Ability to understand competitive offerings and recognize opportunities for cross-selling, upselling, and broader customer value.
- Experience using <Salesforce.com> or a comparable CRM platform, with strong attention to data accuracy and process compliance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with different customer profiles.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment while maintaining consistent communication with internal teams.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to monitor pipeline and qualification metrics, identify trends, and recommend process improvements.
- Strong customer orientation, consultative approach, and ability to follow structured qualification processes while adapting to individual customer needs.
