This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Supply Chain Planning & Strategy based in the United States.
This is a senior leadership opportunity focused on shaping the strategy and performance of a complex logistics, repair, and distribution <network.You> will lead demand planning, forecasting, inventory strategy, and the organization’s Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) framework.The role combines strategic planning with hands-on operational improvement, financial analysis, and capacity <optimization.You> will work closely with executives, clients, actuaries, procurement, forecasting, and business development teams to align supply with demand.With responsibility for inventory budgets exceeding $100M, your decisions will directly influence margins, productivity, efficiency, and customer <satisfaction.You> will also lead and develop a team of directors and managers across planning, analytics, procurement, and order management.This is a high-visibility remote leadership role offering the opportunity to transform supply chain performance at scale.
Accountabilities
- Develop and execute the overarching strategy for logistics, repair, inventory, and distribution networks, ensuring alignment with business and customer objectives.
- Establish and continuously improve demand planning and forecasting processes that integrate operational forecasts with financial planning.
- Lead the S&OP framework, balancing supply and demand while proactively identifying and addressing operational risks and opportunities.
- Develop capacity models that optimize resource utilization while maintaining appropriate service levels and meeting customer expectations.
- Establish optimal inventory levels across regions and depots, balancing availability, working capital, service requirements, and profitability.
- Lead operational productivity and inventory strategy analyses, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and strengthen margins.
- Develop, automate, and enhance customer-focused KPI reporting for internal leadership and external stakeholders.
- Analyze business and financial performance to provide actionable insights that support strategic and operational decision-making.
- Monitor forecasting and operational performance metrics and implement improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and predictability.
- Partner with procurement, forecasting, business development, and other internal teams to align supply chain operations with anticipated demand.
- Collaborate with clients and actuaries to forecast volume requirements and ensure supply planning remains aligned with customer expectations.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives designed to drive continuous improvement and resolve complex supply chain challenges.
- Manage and mentor a team of directors and managers spanning regional planning, analytics, procurement, and order management.
- Develop planning talent through coaching, career guidance, performance management, and opportunities for professional growth.
- Oversee inventory budgets exceeding $100M, using effective supply and demand balancing to support margin growth and financial performance.
- Support cost-reduction initiatives while maintaining high service levels and a strong customer experience.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related discipline required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in supply chain, logistics, operations, or a related field, including at least 3 years leading cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated expertise in demand forecasting, inventory planning, supply planning, and S&OP processes.
- Experience with reverse logistics and preferably with supply chain operations in the mobile or connected-device industry.
- Strong proficiency with forecasting and inventory planning systems and experience with ERP platforms such as Oracle, Great Plains, or comparable systems.
- Expert-level Excel capabilities, including pivot tables, trend analysis, data interpretation, and advanced reporting.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, financial, and decision-making skills, with the ability to translate complex data into practical business strategies.
- Proven success leading large-scale process improvements and cross-functional transformation initiatives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the executive presence and influencing ability required to engage senior stakeholders and clients.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex issues strategically while developing practical tactical solutions in fast-paced environments.
- Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to deliver against demanding timelines and competing priorities.
- APICS CPIM/CSCP certification or equivalent supply chain credentials are advantageous.
- Familiarity with AI and automation initiatives and their application to supply chain planning and operational processes is preferred.
- Strong leadership and people-development skills, with the ability to build high-performing, collaborative teams.

- Base salary: $144,700–$241,600 annually, with actual compensation influenced by experience, qualifications, background, and work location.
