About The Role
Delivery Ink operates one of the largest distribution networks in Canada. We provide best-in-class services for print publishers in Ontario, making daily deliveries to hundreds of thousands of subscribers in the province. This year we will make more than 80,000,000 individual deliveries.
We deliver dozens of products, including the Toronto Star and Globe and Mail, to commercial businesses and homes, with a standard of service that is consistent and exceptional.
Job Description
Reporting to the Dispatch Manager, the Dispatcher is responsible for assisting with nightly operations at one of the designated print sites. Responsibilities Include:
Communicate regularly with drivers
Track shipments from print site to depot.
Dispatcher is to be cognizant of potentially damaged product
The dispatcher is responsible for keeping records, monitoring drivers with log management
Dispatcher needs to ensure that driver has Bill of Lading and Depot load sheets to deliver with shipment to sites
Coordinate and communicate with print site, drivers and distributors/site coordinators
Inform site coordinators or their designate if product is running late and when product leaves the site. Communication is via electronic means, text or email or via mobile device
Report driver misconduct to the Dispatch manager and Delivery ink personnel
Dispatcher is to ensure load is correct and suitable for delivery
Dispatcher will monitor for additional material/product on the truck that is not part of the Delivery Ink requirement
From time to time, certain suppliers or materials will be given by Delivery Ink personnel that need to be given to truck driver
Printing and sorting transportation documents
Monitor drivers target arrival times and alert Delivery Ink of any issues
Address discrepancies and inform the Delivery Ink (shortages, load challenges, etc)
Document and report the Depot truck arrivals ‘Daily Housekeeping’ for DI
Shifts have staggered start and finish times, and can be 4 to 8 hours long
Manage, consolidate, document reports to be submitted before 7:00am to Delivery Ink and its partners.
Dispatchers may be required to work past their scheduled shifts in the event of late production and be available in an emergency call in
Salary: $23.50/hr
Qualifications
2+ years’ experience in similar role
Proficient in MS Office
Self-driven and results oriented with the ability to work independently
Proactive worker with problem solving ability including recommendations of potential solutions to issues.
Ability to multi task coupled with strong organization and priority setting skills to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with focus on continuous improvement.
Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Distribution and logistics industry experience is a plus but not required.
Driver license is as asset
