  • Increase digital skills of BPL users, especially to access information and services online.
  • Develop quality interactive training on basic and more advanced digital tools and software programs; create curriculum, deliver workshops, gather feedback.
  • Manage regular drop-in practice labs to facilitate hands-on learning and address specific tech questions.
  • Administer access to BPL’s online digital skills platforms.
  • Create handouts and user guides in print and on BPL’s website.
  • Develop innovative ways to introduce jobseekers to computer basics, including computer typing, email, and internet searching, so that they can create and store documents such as resumes and complete online applications.
  • Work with BPL’s team of Technical Resource Specialists to build on existing training modules and share best practices
  • Be knowledgeable of and promote the use of BPL Online Resources as useful tools and sources of information.
  • Provide assistance at the customer service desk as needed.
  • Regularly evaluate the technology needs of those looking for work, conducting business, filling out forms and applications, doing research or needing tech assistance to advance their financial wellbeing and create customer focused responses to assist them and enhance their digital literacy.

Required Qualifications

Basic technical knowledge and intermediate skills in the following applications and environments

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), macOS and Google Workspace
  • Proficiency with iOS and Android smartphones and tablets
  • Experience identifying and troubleshooting hardware and software problems
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer instruction; 3 or more years experience teaching digital skills classes

Education and/or Certification

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; College experience preferred.

Skills & Abilities

  • Three or more years experience teaching digital skills classes; track record providing successful workshops and trainings .
  • Demonstrated ability to develop interactive curriculum and to organize and present information .
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and oral, both amongst colleagues and the public.
  • Experience and aptitude for presenting virtual presentations as well as in-person workshops.
  • Self-starter with enthusiasm and commitment to teaching hands-on programs .
  • Empathetic and customer service oriented, with knowledge of trauma-informed practices.
  • Candidates must be flexible, able to handle multiple competing priorities and tasks, adaptable to change, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Availability to work in the evenings and weekends .
