Clemons Library Summer Circulation Assistant (Student Wage)

Overview

Clemons Library at the University of Virginia is seeking a student Circulation Assistant starting in late July/early August. We need summer staffing help in the weeks leading up to the start of Fall semester. The position can continue into the 2026-27 school year.

Important : This posting is only for students who can start working around the beginning of August. There will be a separate Clemons Library job posting for students to start at the beginning of Fall semester.

Responsibilities

The Library Circulation Assistant will provide customer service at the Clemons 4th floor main desk. The position duties include, but are not limited to:

• Checking out books, videos, and equipment items to patrons.
• Answering general informational questions.
• Checking in returned materials and getting them organized and re-shelved.
• Providing basic IT support for printers and desktop computers.

Scheduling

This is a part-time position, with potential work hours available during 9am-6pm on weekdays, and 1-5pm on weekends. Must be able to start beginning of August.

Compensation: $14.53 Hourly

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
