Logistics Execution Senior Coordinator

About The Role
The Senior Logistics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and overseeing logistics activities to ensure the efficient, timely, cost-effective and compliant movement of goods to/from warehouse for inbound processing and exports. The role ensures strong coordination between operations, transporters, forwarders, shipping lines and internal stakeholders while maintaining high service and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Coordinate logistics activities, including shipment planning, transportation, documentation and port delivery.
- Monitor shipment schedules to ensure cargo is loaded and dispatched within agreed timelines. ·
- Coordinate with warehouse teams and forwarders to ensure cargo is ready, documented and dispatched on time.
- Ensure all logistics documentation are accurate, complete and available within required timelines as per set KPI’S.
- Monitor logistics costs and implement measures to reduce them e.g. demurrage, late documentation, delays in collection from 3rd party warehouses.
- Track shipment performance, identify risks and delays and provide regular performance updates. · Resolve logistics issues with cross-functional teams and promptly escalate critical matters.
- Drive continuous improvement through process reviews, SOPs, controls, and logistics best practices.
- Monitor and report monthly logistics performance against KPIs, highlighting gaps, risks and corrective actions.
- Share weekly activity logistics reports with management highlighting on challenges encountered/risks.
- Manage and evaluate forwarders/transporters performance through defined KPIs and regular feedback.
- Lead, coach and develop the logistics team, ensuring effective delegation and prioritization.
- Drive customer satisfaction through promptly addressing client team queries/concerns and ensuring they are always kept updated.
- Set and agreed logistics KPI should be achieved 100%. · Support audits and ensure logistics processes remain aligned with company standards, compliance requirements and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Typically 5+ years of relevant logistics or supply-chain experience, preferably within an export, manufacturing, trading, FMCG or international logistics environment.
- Experience coordinating multiple logistics stakeholders and service providers.
- Professional qualifications in logistics or supply chain management are an added advantage.
Technical Competences
- Strong Logistics Planning & Coordination
- Strong analytical and reporting capabilities
- Effective communication and customer service orientation.
- Problem-solving capabilities
- Strong leadership and team-coordination capabilities
- Proficiency in logistics management and Microsoft Office systems.AI is an added advantage
- Worked in a forwarding company or shipping lines will be an added advantage
