Fire Alarm Technician

BAC Universal Electric is seeking an experienced and skilled FIRE ALARM TECHNICIAN to join our dynamic team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY REPONSIBILITIES

• Perform service, verification and inspection on fire alarm systems
• Install, program and commission stand alone and network fire alarm systems
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, system software programs, schematics, and manufacturers standards
• Inspect and install equipment to meet all applicable codes (NFPA - 70, 72 and 101)
• Evaluate and diagnose equipment that requires servicing, as well as troubleshoot problems
• Provide specific solutions and recommendations to customers on the most efficient and cost-effective methods to return equipment to proper working order.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Completion of a diploma in Fire Protection or Electrical/Electronic Technology
• 3 years' experience as a technician within the fire alarm/security industry
• Prior experience with brands such as Notifier, FCI and Simplex
• Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) certification and/or National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technology (NICET) an asset
• Technical proficiency in low voltage systems. Should have technical competence in at least one of the areas of responsibility.
• Basic computer skills
• Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
