About The Role

Overview

We are seeking an experienced CNC Fabrication Equipment Operator to support structural steel manufacturing operations on second shift. This role involves operating automated machinery used in steel processing while ensuring accuracy, quality, and safety standards are met.

Key Duties

  • Set up, program, and operate CNC-controlled fabrication equipment, including plasma cutting systems, beam drill lines, and angle processing machines.
  • Review and follow fabrication drawings, blueprints, and production documents to meet job specifications.
  • Safely load, position, and secure steel components using overhead cranes and proper rigging techniques.
  • Observe machine performance during production runs and make necessary adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and quality.
  • Inspect finished components using measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, and squares to confirm tolerances.
  • Make minor CNC program edits to accommodate variations in material size, thickness, or job requirements.
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance and troubleshoot machine issues as they arise.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area while following all OSHA and facility safety standards.

Required Skills & Experience

High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training is a plus.

Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience operating CNC equipment in a structural steel or heavy manufacturing setting.

Ability to read and interpret structural steel shop drawings and work instructions.

Proficiency with standard precision measuring instruments.

Experience operating overhead cranes, forklifts, and rigging equipment preferred.

Strong mechanical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a production team in a fast-paced environment.
