
Senior Data Test Engineer

About The Role
We are looking for a Senior Test Engineer to join a data and analytics project involving modern data platforms, ETL processes and reporting solutions. The role is focused on v alidating data flows across architecture layers, ensuring data quality, testing exception scenarios and confirming the accuracy of calculations, aggregations and presentation layers.
This is a strong opportunity for a testing professional with solid experience in data environments, especially those familiar with medallion architecture , ETL validation and business-facing analytics solutions.
The position can be performed remotely from Spain .
What you will do
- Design and execute test strategies for data pipelines and analytics solutions.
- Validate data flows across medallion architecture layers, such as bronze, silver and gold.
- Test ETL processes, including data quality rules, exception handling, defaulting logic and transformation accuracy.
- Verify data consistency, completeness and integrity across source and target systems.
- Validate self-service analytics outputs, including presentation logic, calculations, filters and aggregations.
- Test reporting solutions to ensure accuracy, usability and alignment with business requirements.
- Identify, document and follow up on defects, inconsistencies and data issues.
- Collaborate with data engineers, business analysts, developers and stakeholders to clarify requirements and expected results.
- Contribute senior testing criteria, risk-based thinking and quality recommendations throughout the delivery lifecycle.
 
Required
- Senior-level experience as a Test Engineer, QA Engineer or Data Test Analyst in complex data environments.
- Hands-on experience testing medallion architecture or layered data architectures.
- Strong experience validating ETL processes .
- Solid understanding of data quality testing, including completeness, accuracy, duplication, reconciliation and consistency checks.
- Experience testing exception scenarios , defaulting rules and edge cases in data pipelines.
- Experience validating self-service analytics solutions, including calculations, aggregations, data presentation and report outputs.
- Ability to work autonomously
- Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills to interact with both technical and business stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience in banking, financial services or highly regulated environments.
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms or modern data lakehouse approaches.
- Knowledge of SQL for data validation and reconciliation.
- Experience with BI or reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik or similar.
- Experience working in Agile delivery teams.
- Previous exposure to automated data testing frameworks or test management tools.
