About The Role
In the appointment of Teaching Assistant, your general duties and responsibilities will be: To lead technical tutorials/workshops throughout the term as the class will be divided into working groups: overseeing students in the creation of an analogue, hand-drawn animation that will be recorded using a DSLR camera set-up in a production studio; overseeing/assisting the in-lab work sessions using Premiere Pro and After Effects in a digital animation workflow; and overseeing peer review sessions. Assisting in the grading of both analogue and digital animation projects. Managing and set-up of DSLR camera animation stations. Your general location of work will be MURRAY 192.2, 181, the Production Studio, and the Arts Media Lab. You will report to Lisa Birke. Course Name, Abbreviation and Number: ART 231 Required Number of Hours: 104 hours during the academic term or 6 hours per week Duration of Employment: Fall 2026 session Start and End Dates: September 1 to December 31, 2026 Qualifications (Skills and Abilities) Minimum of an MFA in Studio Arts and TA experience in the Digital Integrated Practice Area (in two of the following classes: ART 230; ART 231; ART 330; ART 331; ART 236/338; ART 237/339). Preference will be given to a candidate that has also taken two credits of ART 838/839 Digital Integrated Practice. Experience in both digital and analogue/traditional animation is required.
