Summary
About the Role
The Senior Medical Billing Clerk plays an important role in helping ensure accurate and timely reimbursement for patient care. In this role, you'll use your knowledge of medical billing and claims processes to investigate complex account issues, resolve billing discrepancies, and support the overall success of the revenue cycle team.
We're looking for someone who enjoys problem-solving, has strong attention to detail, and takes pride in delivering high-quality work that supports both patients and the organization.
The starting annual salary for this position is $42,641 and this will include an additional geographic differential of $2.05/hr. This will also include a full comprehensive benefits package.
What You'll Do
As a Billing Specialist, you will
- Prepare and review claims for insurance carriers to ensure accurate billing and coding
- Investigate and resolve complex billing issues, account discrepancies, and claim concerns
- Analyze open accounts and make corrections or adjustments as needed
- Communicate with internal teams to verify diagnoses, procedures, and coding information
- Submit adjustment requests to insurance carriers and government payers when appropriate
- Monitor billing reports and identify system errors or workflow issues
- Help minimize billing delays by proactively addressing problems and recommending solutions
- Support department operations through special projects, reporting, and backlog management
- Train and mentor new billing team members on billing and follow-up procedures
- Maintain accurate documentation and assist with departmental reporting requirements

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time experience in medical billing and follow-up procedures or a related field.

Degrees must be conferred by an accredited school, college, or university, or by an institution recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and/or Health Research Incorporated
