About the role

We are seeking Security Officers that are responsible for providing a highly visible, professional security presence and delivering responsive security services across all University of Melbourne campuses and properties.

The role combines proactive patrols, traffic and parking enforcement, incident response, building security, and excellent customer service to protect persons, property, and the University community while supporting a safe and welcoming environment.

Duties include but are not limited to

• Patrol premises regularly
• Monitoring surveillance cameras and equipment
• Authorise entrance of people and vehicles
• Ensure the security, safety and well-being of all personnel and visitors
• Report any suspicious behaviour and happenings to supervisors
• Respond to alarms or suspicious noises, and react in a timely manner
• Submit reports of daily surveillance activity

Skills & experience

• Current Victorian Security License.
• Demonstrated experience in security, patrol, or customer service roles.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team across multiple campuses.
• Current First Aid Certificate (including CPR), Full Driver’s License, and Working with Children Check

Desirable

• Experience in a university or large institutional environment.
• Knowledge of University security systems (Gallagher, Milestone, SafeZone).
• Training in de-escalation, conflict resolution, and traffic management.
