DescriptionPosition Summary

The Environmental Services Technician – Laundry Aide plays an essential role in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients, residents, staff, and visitors at Trinity Health Kenmare Hospital. This position is responsible for completing daily cleaning and sanitizing tasks in assigned areas to ensure infection control standards are consistently met and upheld. In addition to environmental services duties, the Laundry Aide supports laundry operations by assisting with the collection, washing, drying, folding, and distribution of linens in accordance with departmental procedures. This dual-function role works closely with environmental services and clinical teams in a supportive, team-oriented setting, contributing directly to patient satisfaction, regulatory compliance, and the smooth, efficient operation of the facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cleans, sanitizes, and maintains assigned rooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas according to facility standards.
  • Assists with laundry functions, including collection, washing, drying, folding, and delivery of linens and garments.
  • Follows established infection control practices, chemical handling procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Ensures equipment and cleaning supplies are used properly and stored safely.
  • Reports maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply needs to the supervisor promptly.

Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and reaching throughout the work shift. The Technician must be able to lift, push, or pull laundry bags, carts, and cleaning equipment, often weighing up to 30–50 pounds. Repetitive movements—including folding, wiping, and operating laundry machinery—are part of daily tasks. The role requires stamina, manual dexterity, and the ability to work efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a physically active environment.

Environmental Requirements

Work is performed in patientcare areas, laundry facilities, and general hospital environments. The Technician may be exposed to cleaning chemicals, heat and humidity from laundry equipment, bodily fluids, infectious materials, and typical hospital noise levels. The position requires adherence to all safety and infection control protocols, use of protective equipment as needed, and the ability to work around patients, residents, staff, and visitors while maintaining professionalism and a strong focus on cleanliness and safety.
