DescriptionA Brief Overview

The Associate Chief Medical Officer serves as a senior physician executive and key deputy to the Chief Medical Officer, with a strong focus on clinical operations, performance improvement, physician advisory and clinical informatics. Leads cross-functional collaboration with operations, quality, finance, nursing, and service-line leadership to drive improvements in reliability, throughput, patient outcomes, and overall organizational performance within a high-acuity, mission-driven hospital setting.

What you will do

Provides senior physician leadership for enterprise clinical operations, with oversight of ROH clinical operations and alignment of physician services with hospital performance goals.

Assists with operational improvement initiatives focused on hospital throughput, length of stay, discharge optimization, transfer efficiency, utilization management, and care transitions.

Oversees clinical informatics and AI strategy and execution, including EHR optimization, clinical decision support, data governance, and digital workflow transformation to improve quality, efficiency, and provider experience.

Partners with quality and safety leaders to drive measurable improvements in mortality, harm reduction, patient safety, patient experience, and regulatory readiness.

Collaborates with CDI, case management, revenue integrity, and finance to enhance documentation quality, reduce denials, and optimize resource utilization and financial performance.

Translates clinical data into actionable insights by leveraging analytics platforms, dashboards, and reporting tools to support real-time operational and strategic decision-making.

Supports development and execution of service line strategies and clinical programs, ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities and performance metrics.

Builds physician engagement through visible leadership, effective communication, informatics enablement, and performance-driven coaching.

Serves as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on clinical operations, informatics, digital transformation, and performance improvement initiatives.

QualificationsQualifications

M.D. or D.O. from accredited school Required

Board certification in an ABMS- or AOA-recognized specialty. Upon Hire Required and

Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Tennessee. Upon Hire Required

Minimum 5 years experience Of progressive physician leadership experience, including experience in hospital operations, medical staff affairs, quality, or service-line leadership. Required and

Experience with improvement in quality, throughput, utilization, or physician engagement. Strong executive presence, conflict-management ability, and skill in leading across a matrixed environment. Required and

Experience in a large urban hospital, safety-net system, trauma center, or academic medical center. Preferred

Experience with care progression, physician advisory functions, utilization review, regulatory readiness, or denials management. Preferred

Experience supervising or coaching medical directors, department leaders, or physician committees. Preferred
