We are looking for a dependable, knowledgeable, and student-focused Substitute On-Call Facilities Maintenance Instructor to support our Career Technical Training Center. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to share your hands-on facilities maintenance knowledge, help students develop valuable career skills, and prepare them for employment, higher education, or advanced training.
The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working with young adults, takes pride in their work, and can create a positive, structured, and engaging learning environment.

What You’ll Do
Provide engaging, industry-focused instruction and hands-on training in facilities maintenance that prepares students for employment, higher education, advanced training, and industry-recognized certifications.
Deliver quality career technical training that supports student progress, successful completion of the program, and career placement.
Provide individualized guidance, encouragement, and support to help students stay on track and achieve their career goals.
Maintain a classroom and training environment that is safe, organized, welcoming, and conducive to learning.
Teach and reinforce appropriate workplace behaviors, safety practices, professional standards, and the Center’s dress and conduct expectations.
Mentor, monitor, and model the Career Success Standards outlined by the Job Corps Program Requirements Handbook (PRH).
Help students develop the practical skills, confidence, and professionalism needed to succeed in the facilities maintenance field.
Support students with career preparation, including identifying job leads and encouraging successful employment and placement outcomes.
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential student records and information. Protect the integrity of student data and follow all applicable policies and procedures.
Support Center goals and performance standards established by the Department of Labor (DOL) and the company.
Provide appropriate supervision and guidance to students while promoting accountability, respect, courtesy, and positive behavior.
Recognize student needs and respond promptly and appropriately to concerns or challenges.
Work collaboratively with staff across departments to ensure students receive consistent, high-quality services and support.
Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, and provide timely information when requested by management, the DOL, or the company.
Identify challenges, assess potential solutions, take appropriate action, and follow through to ensure issues are resolved.
Maintain strong attendance, reliability, productivity, and professional accountability.
Stay current with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively perform instructional and facilities maintenance responsibilities.
Plan, prioritize, and organize assignments to meet established goals and deadlines.
Accept direction and supervision from the Center Director, Center Duty Officer, Shift Manager, or other designated leadership, including temporarily supporting responsibilities in other departments or positions when needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A minimum of one-year experience in teaching or related field required.
Certified, licensed, or accredited in the state in which the center is located, or is accredited by a professional trade organization.
For NTC, instructor must be certified by union or trade organization, or by a national trade certifying organization.
Previous Job Corps experience preferred.
Must possess a valid Driver’s License and meet company insurability requirements.
Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping and crouching. Demonstrates the ability to lift 40 pounds and/or the ability to assess the lift load in order to ask for necessary assistance. (Depending upon trade).
