About The Role

DescriptionSUMMARY

Through preventative measures and therapeutic interventions, the Behavior Aide helps ensure the physical, emotional, and psychological needs of the students are met in a safe and productive manner. Primary functions and duties revolve around behavior management, crisis intervention, return to classroom and general support to all clients.

JOB DUTIES

Monitors classroom or student as assigned and intervenes proactively with classroom removal, counseling and classroom return

Liaison closely with teachers and behavior team to ensure effective plans of intervention and behavior management

Documents students behaviors; identify and systematically track target behaviors

Supports clients under Program Services during non-school hours & school closures

Ensures that all campus transitions of students to meals, classes, medical appointments, etc. are completed in a timely and safe fashion

Administers counseling intervention with students in a professional manner and consistent with school policies

Establishes positive and nurturing relationships with students within professional boundaries and in accordance with school policies and boundaries; observes actions and conversations of students and reports concerns to supervisor as necessary (e.g. unreported incident of physical, emotional or sexual abuse)

Maintains all required documentation in a timely manner, including logs and special incident reports; Notifies appropriate staff on any issues needing follow up

Communicates closely with staff to ensure consistency and continuity of individual treatment plans

Maintains all safety standards, laws and company policy, when operating any company vehicle. Notifies appropriate personnel immediately, when any maintenance or damage problems arise

Performs other reasonable related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

In the course of performing this job, the incumbent typically spends time standing, walking on sloped/hilly areas of campus, carrying, driving, lifting (up to 50 pounds), listening, speaking, reaching, writing, and participating in restraint procedures.

QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS

Two or more years of prior experience working with emotionally disturbed adolescents/children preferred

Working knowledge of crisis intervention skills and the medical and emergency procedures

Ability to pass and utilize Crisis Prevention Intervention (C.P.I.) and/or Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Training (T.C.I.) within three months of employment

Ability to pass and utilize First Aid and CPR Certification within three months of employment

A valid California drivers license and a driving record acceptable to the Company's insurance carrier

Dependent upon the client population, prior experience working with severely emotionally disturbed or handicapped students or students with Autism is preferred

Must fulfill all requirements of employment, including clearance of all required background records (e.g. Department of Justice, Child Abuse, California Community Care Licensing, County Sanction List, etc.), professional, physical examination, and drug testing
