Job Purpose

The Barista/Attendant is responsible for servicing guests & members in a prompt, professional and courteous manner while upholding the core values of The Gasparilla Inn & Club. The Barista/Attendant purpose is to ensure the level of service provided to the guest is highly individualized and that each guest experiences the warmth and charm of The Gasparilla Inn & Club. Barista/Attendant responsibilities include educating customers on our drinks menu, making recommendations based on their preferences, up-selling special items and taking orders. To be successful in this role, you should have customer service skills and knowledge of how brewing equipment operates. You should also be able to work various shifts.

Job Duties

• Adheres to the Gasparilla Inn and Club’s 4 Steps to Memorable Service.
• Exhibit’s the Gasparilla Inn’s Core Values.
• Maintains good hygiene and appearance
• Greet customers as they enter
• Give customers drink menus and answer their questions regarding ingredients
• Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios)
• Prepare beverages following recipes
• Serve beverages and prepared food, like cookies, pastries and muffins
• Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards)
• Maintain stock of clean mugs and plates
• Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
• Comply with health and safety regulations
• Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items
• Assists in maintaining a safe work environment for co-workers and guests.
• Reads, comprehends and abides by all rules and regulations set forth in the Gasparilla Inn Foodservice Employee Manual and the Gasparilla Inn Employee Handbook.
• Ensures there is consistent quality of finished food and beverage items to all guests.
• Must be able to multitask and communicate well with others.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment.
• Ensures that all food and beverages are handled in accordance to the food safety handling procedures.
• Must be willing to learn coffee drinks and use the espresso machine with proper training.
• Must be self-motivated and organized, have problem solving skills.
• Must be good in high volume atmospheres, work fast paced.
• Must have basic computer skills (be able to work with a POS system)
• Must have cash handling experience.
• Must have good listening and communication skills and work well with others.
• Will be expected to clean all parts of the bakery; Kitchen areas, dishes, laundry, bathroom, front lobby and back stock room.
• Must be willing and able to pass a background check/drug test.
• All other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions and Assignments

This is a physically active position and individuals can expect to work in a variety of environments both indoors and outdoors. This position is also required to work during nights, weekends and holidays. This position can expect to work a variety of shifts extending from early morning to afternoon.
