Key Areas of Responsibility
- Schedules transportation with carriers for regular planned deliveries to and from customers, warehouses, and plants. Takes constraints, such as maximum loads, available time slots, equipment pools, etc. into consideration prior to making arrangements. Independent resolution of unique changes, problems or opportunities provided by Clients, Customers, and Carriers.
- Ensures that setups are completed and data pertaining to carriers, routes, freights, rates and routes, vehicle types, constraints, schedules are entered correctly in ERP system.
- Initiates and coordinates emergency shipments as required. Works with carriers in finding shipment options when faced with changes in delivery times or locations.
- Follows up and resolves the more sensitive complaints and issues. Reviews daily Open Order and other reports to identify missed or delayed shipments. Works with Customer Care or plant personnel to identify issues that may affect timely delivery.
- Obtains proof of shipment or delivery documents from transport vendors or Cabot facilities both internal and external warehouses for audit or credit requirements.
Required Skills
- Adept in the use of computers and office software packages. Basic knowledge of ERP systems.
- Ability to define problems, to collect data, to establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to collaborate and communicate with all levels of employees and management.
- Strong and planning organizational skills
- Seasoned customer service orientation. Ability to provide excellent service to customers and plants.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or related field. Equivalent experience considered
- Five or more years’ experience in a transportation or logistics environment.
