  • The Union Health Center (UHC) is seeking a full-time Medical Director to join our team!

Background

The Union Health Center (UHC) is an innovative primary and multi-specialty center focused on providing well-coordinated and accessible healthcare. UHC has been providing care to New Yorkers for over one hundred years to union members and their families. The center is built around a team-based model that integrates health coaches and serves a diverse patient population. UHC maintains Primary Care PCMH recognition and is certified as an Article 28 facility.

Role Summary

The term of appointment of the Medical Director shall be as determined by the Chief Medical Officer. The Medical Director will be afforded the same appointments, privileges and hearings as applying to members of the medical staff at Union Health Center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following and may include other duties as assigned

  1. Supervises medical providers and reports to the Chief Medical Officer.
  2. Performs Initial and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (annually).
  3. Ensure that primary care providers adhere to standards of care in line with current regulatory requirements (including but not limited to New York State Department of Health Article 28 Health Law, National Committee for Quality Assurance Patient Centered Medical Home Model and HEDIS Metrics, respective professional board, etc.)
  4. Works with the Chief Medical Officer and Director of Performance Improvement to oversee overall annual quality objectives.
  5. Works with emergency preparedness committee regarding development and implementation of UHC’s disaster preparedness plan.
  6. Works with clinical quality leads regarding patient’s complaints and incidences and the responses provided.
  7. Responsible for appointment and re-appointment of medical staff providers.
  8. Monitors clinical program(s) and aspects of formal back-up or transfer agreements.
  9. Works with Medical Staff Coordinator to ensure adequate coverage of the Health Center.
  10. Complies with the Union Health Center’s policies & procedures related to privacy and security of identifiable patient information (PHI), as explained in the HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act) training.
  11. Able to maintain a patient panel respective of clinical time with a minimum of 5 clinical sessions.

Method of Appointment

  • The Chief Medical Officer oversees the appointment of the Medical Director provided the Medical Director is able to maintain the qualifications needed for employment.
  • Compensation: $245,000 to $265,000 per year (not including incentive compensation or benefits)

QualificationsQualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. The Union Health Center will comply with applicable standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act .

  1. A graduate of LCME School of Medicine.
  2. A graduate of ACGME accredited residency.
  3. Licensed to practice in the State of New York.
  4. Board Certified in their respective field of practice.
  5. In good legal, moral and ethical standing.
  6. Has at least five years’ experience post board certification.
  7. Meets the criteria for active medical staff membership and possesses the requisite administrative competence for the position.
  8. Strong interpersonal, oral, written communication and collaborative skills.
  9. Advanced computer skills in a variety of applications.
  10. Language proficiency in one of the target languages of the organization.

Salary Disclosure Information

The Union Health Center provides a salary range to comply with the New York City law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialties, historical productivity, historical collections, and hospital/community need. As such, an actual salary may fall closer to one or the other end of the range, and in certain circumstances, may wind up being outside of the listed salary range. The salary range listed is for full-time employment and does not include bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits.
