POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving automated systems and machinery to optimize performance and ensure continuous and efficient production operations. This role involves troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, implementing preventive maintenance strategies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance process automation. The Maintenance Technician 1-4 position has been designated a safety sensitive position based on the federal OSHA standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on automated systems, machinery, and equipment.
  •  Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system issues to minimize downtime.
  •  Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  •  Collaborate with engineering teams to design and implement automation solutions to improve operational efficiency.
  •  Modify, update, and optimize PLC programs and HMI configurations.
  •  Assist in upgrading and retrofitting existing equipment and systems with automation technology.
  •  Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and upgrades.
  •  Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  •  Develop and update technical documentation, including preventive maintenance procedures and troubleshooting guides.
  •  Provide technical support and training to operations staff on automated equipment and systems.
  •  Assist in developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices for equipment usage and maintenance.
  •  Keep safety awareness high and ensure that all employees are aware that safety is American Highway’s number one priority
  •  Other duties as assigned

Education and experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Some technical or college level coursework preferred
  • Mechanical and repair experience
  • Maintenance experience required
  • Electrical experience preferred
  • Stick welding experience required
  • Fabrication experience required

  • 50-pound lifting requirement
  • Visually inspect machinery
  • Prolonged standing and walking on concrete surfaces
  • Bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean and service machinery
