Senior Engineer, Projects

Key roles and responsibilities

• Project Planning and Management:

• o Develop comprehensive project management plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
• o Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project alignment with organizational goals.
• o Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.

• Design and Engineering:

• o Collaborate with engineers and Client to develop effective design solutions.
• o Ensure compliance with local regulations, industry standards, and best practices.

• Implementation and Execution:

• o Oversee the procurement of materials, equipment, and services required for the project.
• o Manage contractors and subcontractors to ensure adherence to project specifications and schedules.
• o Supervise the site inspections conducted by the Inspectors of Works (IOWs) to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
• o Provide guidance and support to Engineers and IOWs to resolve any issues encountered during inspections and testing & commissioning.

• Budget and Cost Management:

• o Monitor project expenditures and ensure adherence to the approved budget.
• o Prepare financial reports and forecasts.

• Stakeholder Communication:

• o Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders, including project team members, clients, contractors, vendors, and regulatory authorities.
• o Prepare and present project status reports to senior management and other stakeholders.

• Compliance and Quality Assurance:

• o Ensure the project adheres to all relevant regulatory requirements and standards.
• o Implement quality control measures to ensure project deliverables meet the required standards.

• Health, Safety & Environment Management:

• o Promote a culture of safety and ensure all activities comply with health and safety regulations.
• o Conduct safety audits and implement corrective actions as necessary, with the HSE Manager.

• Regulatory and Approval Processes:

• o Familiar with local regulations and the submission process for obtaining approvals from relevant authorities.
• o Ensure timely submission of required documentation and follow up on approval processes to avoid project delays.

• Preparation of Technical Proposals:

• o Support the preparation of technical proposals for consultancy works.
• o Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive and competitive proposals that meet client requirements.
• o Ensure proposals are aligned with organizational capabilities and strategic goals.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Engineering degree from reputable university, Master degree holder will have added advantage.
• At least 5 - 10 years post graduate working experience, preferably in the power and energy industry with proven track record executing GT/CCGT/thermal power plant project design, construction and consultancy works. Candidate with other renewable energy (wind, biogas, biomass, WTE, H2/NH3 etc) project experience will have added advantage.
• Conversant and competent with the latest power and energy technology and design like GT/ST/HRSG/BOP and familiar with international design standards.
• Project Management Institute certified is preferred.
• Good command using Primavera, MS Project, MS Office Suites and project management software and tools.
• Familiarity with local regulations and the authorities' submission process and approval.
• Proven track record of executing complex projects from inception to completion.
• Able to perform well under tight timeline and fast pace moving environment and multi-tasking ability with good self-discipline and working under minimum supervision as individual contributor or part of a cross functional team.
• Excellent English in speaking and writing.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively within a diverse and multi-disciplinary environment.
• Willing to acquire new skills and a fast learner.
• Willing to travel or to be based at outstation or at project site (local or overseas) as required.
