Position Overview Department: Information Technology Employment Type: Internship Reports To: IT Manager / Supervisor
The IT/Cyber Security Intern provides frontline and escalated technical assistance to end users, supports the provisioning of hardware, software, and system access, and assists the IT team with compliance audit preparation. This is a hands-on role suited to a candidate looking to build practical experience in enterprise IT support and operations.
Key Responsibilities
Provisioning
- Set up and configure new hardware, software, and user accounts for onboarding staff
- Manage access requests, permissions, and account changes in line with IT policy
- Maintain accurate records of provisioned equipment and assigned access
Tier 1 & Tier 2 IT Support
- Respond to and resolve help desk tickets covering hardware, software, and network issues
- Diagnose and troubleshoot more complex technical problems beyond initial triage (Tier 2)
- Escalate unresolved issues to senior IT staff or appropriate specialists
- Document issue resolutions and maintain support ticket records for future reference
Compliance Audit Support
- Assist with gathering documentation and evidence for IT compliance audits
- Help maintain audit-readiness of systems, records, and access logs
- Support the IT team in tracking and remediating audit findings
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree/certification in IT, Computer Science, or a related field
- Basic understanding of computer hardware, software installation, and networking fundamentals
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion, particularly in compliance-related tasks
- Prior help desk or IT support experience is a plus but not required
Work Environment On-site/hybrid internship position based in the IT department, working closely with IT staff and interacting regularly with employees across the organization.
