Summary

The Warehouse and Distribution Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of these departments, including receiving, storing, and shipping goods, supporting inventory accuracy, arranging inbound and outbound logistics, fulfilling customer orders, optimizing product flow, and managing teams. The Warehouse and Distribution Supervisor will work closely with the Supply Chain, Planning, and Assembly teams to meet all daily requirements and with senior leadership to make Whisker the employer of choice in our region.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages the day-to-day Shipping/warehouse activities, pick & pack, material handlers, inventory, and organization of the warehouse
  • Develops, tracks, and reports on key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Participates in and conducts forklift training and ensures safe utilization of equipment
  • Directly and through hourly leaders (Facilitators), manage the activities of team members working on multiple shifts to achieve daily departmental goals
  • Coordinates with third-party warehouses and vendors
  • Partners with the Planner/Expeditors to execute shipping and litter-related administrative responsibilities
  • Establishes operational procedures for activities, such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory current
  • Conducts cycle counts and tracks inventory regularly
  • Problem-solve errors to establish root causes and countermeasures
  • Sets warehouse best practices and protocols to achieve an efficient warehouse
  • Confers with department heads to ensure the coordination of warehouse activities (i.e., production, sales, records control, and purchasing; deals with vendors)
  • Participates in the hiring process and helps train warehouse personnel and issues work assignments; plans for future hiring
  • Compiles, analyzes, and reports on various aspects of obtaining, maintaining, and distributing inventories
  • Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, processes, and regulations
  • May be required to flex hours to support all areas of the business
  • Will perform additional responsibilities when required

Leadership Responsibilities

Directly and through hourly leaders (Facilitators), manage the activities of departments and team members working on multiple shifts. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Whisker policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training, and hiring associates, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, addressing issues through coaching and discipline, and upholding safety and quality guidelines.

Requirements

What You’ll Bring

  • BA or equivalent years of experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, distribution, and/or logistics environment that included pick-and-pack and fulfillment enterprises
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in a high-volume warehouse and distribution environment, preferably within a direct-to-customer business model
  • Experience shipping and/or receiving domestic and international orders
  • Experience operating manufacturing equipment such as sit-down and stand-up forklifts, pallet riders, and manual and/or electric pallet jacks
  • Maintains confidentiality of proprietary information
  • Ability to maintain a professional atmosphere in a fast-paced environment with numerous interactions and interruptions
  • High degree of initiative, self-motivation, and ability to motivate others
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with Team Members and colleagues
  • Basic knowledge of worker’s compensation and insurance (property & casualty, equipment, etc.)
  • Understanding of behavior-based safety principles
  • Comfortable with office pets (dogs, cats)

Not Required but Nice to Have!

  • Experience working with SAP (ERP system)
  • Experience working with FedEx, DHL, UPS, USPS, and/or third-party logistics partners

While performing the duties of this position, the Team Member is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear. Frequent use of hands and fingers for fine motor tasks, including handling, grasping, and manipulating objects, is required. The role also requires frequent bending, reaching, and the ability to operate both small and large hand tools.

The Team Member must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus as needed to safely perform job duties.
