Schedule

  • Evening Shifts only | 8-hour shifts | 2:30 pm to 11 pm
  • Full-time | 72-80 Hours every two weeks
  • Occasional weekends, and holidays rotate as needed.

Pay and Benefits (Total Rewards)

  • Wage rates start at $26.73 per hour offering more with experience.
  • Full pay range for this position is $23.29 - $35.64 hourly
  • Shift Differential Pay: + $1.50/hour between 3 pm & 11 pm.
  • Weekend shift differential is + $1.05 per hour when occurring.

What You'll Do

As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies are properly decontaminated, inspected, assembled, sterilized, tracked, and distributed throughout the health system.

  • Key responsibilities include:
  • Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment.
  • Identify damaged instruments and ensure proper functionality before distribution.
  • Assemble complex surgical instrument trays according to established standards.
  • Operate sterilization equipment and instrument tracking systems.
  • Maintain compliance with infection prevention, regulatory, and quality standards.
  • Manage inventory and coordinate the availability of critical equipment and supplies.
  • Support surgical and procedural teams by ensuring instruments are available accurately and on time.
  • Utilize technology including instrument tracking systems, inventory management systems, electronic medical records, handheld devices, Microsoft Office products, and email applications.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand and walk for extended periods during 8-hour shifts.
  • Push and pull up to 75 pounds.
  • Routinely lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Perform frequent reaching, bending, squatting, and crouching.
  • Work in warm environments while wearing required personal protective equipment.
  • Function effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and competing priorities.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one year of Sterile Processing experience in an acute care hospital, ambulatory surgery center, or healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of decontamination, sterilization methods, surgical instrumentation, and infection prevention practices.
  • Ability to understand and follow detailed technical instructions related to surgical instrumentation and equipment.

Preferred

  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification through HSPA, or ability to obtain within established timeframe.
  • Two or more years of Sterile Processing experience.
  • Experience with instrument tracking systems and surgical instrument inventory management.
  • Experience processing complex surgical instrument sets across multiple specialties.
