Department Overview
TD Auto Finance (TDAF) is part of TD Business Banking and provides automotive financing solutions to customers and dealer partners across Canada. TDAF Commercial supports floor plan and lease financing for automotive dealerships through collaboration across Commercial Sales, Commercial Credit, and Commercial Operations.
The Commercial Operations Audit team conducts physical floorplan inventory, and administrative audits to validate collateral and support effective portfolio oversight. The team works with dealership clients, internal partners, and third-party audit vendors to deliver accurate, timely, and well-documented audit outcomes.
Job Description
Reporting to the Audit Manager, the Field Auditor, Western Canada conducts on-site dealership audits across Western Canada territory (including but not limited to BC, AB, SK, and MB), including physical inventory counts and administrative reviews. The role verifies collateral, documents audit findings, identifies potential risk indicators, and escalates concerns in a timely manner.
This role is well suited to a detail-oriented, independent professional who is comfortable with regional travel and can balance strong dealer relationships with sound audit discipline.
Key Accountabilities
- Conduct inventory counts and administrative audits across Western Canada, including British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and other locations as required.
- Complete scheduled, unscheduled, high-risk, inventory watch, takeover, and time-sensitive audits within required frequency, rotation, and service expectations.
- Prioritize regional audit activity using sound judgment, with focus on higher-risk dealers, complex dealer groups, large inventories, and locations where direct TD field oversight provides added value.
- Review and verify dealer records related to sold, missing, damaged, or not-seen units, identify unauthorized locations or irregularities, and escalate concerns to appropriate internal partners.
- Accurately capture audit results, supporting documentation, photos, findings, and commentary, ensuring audit files are complete, timely, and ready for review.
- When required, support office-based audit activities, including reviewing audit results and following up with dealership contacts by email to collect payoffs or supporting documentation.
- Maintain an accurate monthly Western Canada audit schedule and optimize regional travel by grouping audits geographically, pairing smaller audits where appropriate, and applying prudent cost management.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with dealer clients, Commercial Sales, Commercial Credit, internal operations partners, and third-party audit vendors, including Douglas Guardian / Quiktrak field representatives.
- Support audit quality by documenting discrepancies, sharing regional observations, and providing feedback to support consistent audit execution.
- Participate in training, cross-training, knowledge sharing, and process improvement initiatives that support business continuity, regional audit readiness, and operational excellence.
Job Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or relevant experience in automotive finance, wholesale floor plan financing, audit, banking operations, risk management, or a related field.
- Experience conducting inventory audits, collateral inspections, dealership reviews, or similar field-based operational activities is an asset.
- Knowledge of floor plan financing, dealership operations, vehicle inventory processes, and audit documentation requirements is preferred.
- Experience supporting geographically dispersed territories, field-based work, or regional travel planning is an asset.
- Experience with Wholesale Finance System (WFS), HOST, audit platforms, handheld audit tools, LaserFiche, Excel, Word, and document management tools is an asset.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to document audit findings clearly and communicate professionally with dealers and internal partners.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently, manage regional travel, prioritize audit activity, and meet required timelines in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail and sound judgment, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and escalate issues quickly through appropriate channels.
- Ability to perform office-based audit support tasks when required, including reviewing audit results, validating follow-up items, tracking outstanding payoffs or supporting information, and ensuring documentation is complete and accurate.
- Proficiency with audit systems, email, Excel, Word, and document management tools to track follow-ups, maintain clear records, and support timely resolution of audit exceptions.
- Customer-focused and relationship-oriented, with the ability to build trust and maintain professionalism in all dealer and partner interactions.
- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to support changing priorities, urgent audit requests, seasonal travel considerations, and evolving operational requirements.
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly across Western Canada (AB, BC, SK and MB), including frequent day travel, overnight travel and occasional travel outside Western provinces as required.
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation are required.
- Proximity to a major Western Canada transportation hub is preferred to support efficient travel planning and coverage.
- Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset.
