About The Role

Material Engineer

The Material Engineer is responsible for establishing, managing, and supervising the project materials laboratory, as well as planning, coordinating, and evaluating laboratory and field testing of construction materials in accordance with approved testing standards, project specifications, and quality requirements. The Material Engineer is also responsible for interpreting test results, maintaining accurate quality documentation, ensuring laboratory compliance, and coordinating effectively with the QA/QC team, Consultant, Subcontractors, and Project Management Team.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, manage, and supervise the project materials laboratory.
  • Plan and coordinate laboratory and field testing activities in accordance with project specifications and approved standards.
  • Conduct and supervise testing of soil, concrete, aggregates, asphalt, and other construction materials.
  • Ensure all testing is carried out in accordance with applicable ASTM, BS, AASHTO, ISO, and project-specific standards.
  • Review, analyse, and interpret laboratory and field test results and provide technical recommendations.
  • Ensure the proper calibration, maintenance, and control of laboratory equipment and testing instruments.
  • Prepare and review material test reports, laboratory records, inspection reports, and other QA/QC documentation.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in construction materials engineering, materials testing, and laboratory operations.
  • Experience in planning, coordinating, and monitoring laboratory and field testing activities.
  • Good knowledge of applicable ASTM, BS, AASHTO, ISO, and project-specific testing standards and specifications.
  • Experience in material sampling, testing, inspection, approval, and quality-control procedures.
  • Experience in concrete mix design, trial mixes, aggregate testing, soil classification and compaction testing, and other relevant construction materials testing.
  • Ability to maintain accurate laboratory records, test reports, material documentation, and quality-control records.
  • Experience in coordinating with QA/QC teams, Consultants, Subcontractors, Suppliers, and Project Management Teams.
