  • Amentum is seeking a Vehicle Operator to support a unique US Navy program on the island
  • of Diego Garcia. The Vehicle Operator will be responsible for operating government
  • vehicles and ground support equipment in support of air terminal and fl ight line operations.
  • This position safely transports passengers, baggage, cargo, and equipment while ensuring
  • compliance with U.S. Navy, airfield safety, and transportation regulations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Operate government vehicles and specialized ground support equipment in support

of air terminal and fl ight line operations.

  • Safely transport passengers, cargo, baggage, mail, and equipment between air

terminal facilities, aircraft parking areas, and designated staging locations.

  • Perform preoperational, operational, and post operational inspections to ensure

vehicles are safe and serviceable.

  • Operate vehicles in accordance with airfi eld driving procedures, traƯic regulations,

and flight line safety requirements.

  • Maintain situational awareness while working around aircraft, ground support

equipment, and other operational hazards.

  • Assist with cargo and baggage loading, unloading, and movement as directed.
  • Maintain assigned vehicles in a clean, safe, and operational condition.
  • Report vehicle defi ciencies, maintenance requirements, accidents, or safety

concerns promptly.

  • Maintain accurate vehicle inspection records, operating logs, and transportation

documentation.

  • Support air terminal operations by responding to changing operational priorities and

schedules.

  • Provide courteous and professional customer service to passengers, aircrews, and

mission partners.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and

level of the position.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience operating vehicles in in transportation,

logistics, air terminal, or aviation support environments.

  • Knowledge of vehicle operation, traƯic laws, and airfi eld driving procedures.
  • Ability to safely operate vehicles around aircraft and in high traƯic operational

environments.

  • Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
  • Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
  • Ability to obtain country-specifi c visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign

Clearance Guide.

  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain

compliance throughout the duration of deployment.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Must read,
  • speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract
  • requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United

States) environment with a multi-national workforce

  • A valid driver’s license to legally operate a motor vehicle. .
  • Experience supporting U.S. military, government, or aviation transportation

operations.

  • Experience operating specialized ground support equipment.

Working Environment

  • This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote
  • overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in oƯice,
  • industrial, warehouse, port, airfi eld, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to
  • high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work
  • schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on
  • operational requirements.

Physical Requirements

  • Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up
  • to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and
  • outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment
  • requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
