About the Role
Gap Inc. has embarked on an enterprise-wide Product to Market (P2M) Transformation — IndigoX — to reimagine our product engine operating model, strengthen end-to-end capabilities, and accelerate speed, creativity, and resilience across all brands. The Merchandise Planning & Inventory Optimization (MP&IO) pillar within IndigoX is focused on modernizing how Gap Inc. plans, buys, and allocates inventory — building smarter, more connected planning capabilities that link consumer demand signals to product investment decisions, reduce markdown exposure, and improve performance across channels.
The Manager, P2M Transformation – Merch Planning & Inventory Optimization will serve as a critical activation partner for the MP&IO work stream, responsible for program delivery, stakeholder engagement, and business value tracking across planning, buying, and inventory management initiatives. This role sits at the intersection of strategy and execution — requiring someone who can manage program complexity with precision while bringing new thinking and an AI-native mindset to how the work gets done.
This individual will report into the Director, P2M Transformation. What You'll Do
- Lead program management for MP&IO work stream initiatives, maintaining structured milestone tracking, cross-functional accountability, and risk resolution across planning, buying, and inventory teams.
- Support the design and activation of future-state planning capabilities — partnering with business and technology stakeholders to move from strategy to operational reality.
- Maintain rigorous governance across MP&IO workstreams, ensuring clear and timely visibility into program health, risks, and decisions for leadership and cross-functional partners.
- Track and quantify business value delivered by MP&IO initiatives — translating program milestones into financial and operational outcomes that resonate with leadership and finance audiences.
- Identify and manage interdependencies between MP&IO and adjacent IndigoX pillars, ensuring cross-pillar coordination on sequencing, data flows, and shared capabilities.
- Champion an AI-native approach to program operations and planning work — actively experimenting with generative AI and intelligent tools to improve how the team delivers insights, reporting, and communications.
- Develop leadership communications — from working-team updates to executive materials — that translate complex planning and operational dynamics into clear, audience-appropriate narratives.
- Partner with change management to design and execute adoption strategies that embed new planning capabilities and ways of working across brand, channel, and functional teams.
- Bring new methods, frameworks, and ways of thinking to the MP&IO program — drawing from diverse experience to challenge existing approaches and improve how transformation is delivered.
