Purpose
The Teaching Assistant for BA X82C: Strategies for Career Success will support the course instructor in delivering a career strategy course to McCombs Master of Science students. The Teaching Assistant will attend an assigned section, support classroom instruction and break-out activities, manage attendance and assignments, serve as a liaison between students and the instructor, and model professional job search behaviors. This role sits within the Career Education and Coaching team in McCombs Career Management & Corporate Relations (CMCR).

Responsibilities
- Attend assigned section of BA X82C class; support instruction, activities, and break-out discussions
- Manage and track class attendance and assignments; proactively work with students to ensure timely completion
- Provide logistical support including class reminders, announcements, materials, and similar coordination tasks
- Review course content, activities, and assignments and provide input in support of curricular enhancements, as requested by the instructor
- Serve as a resource for career-related questions for the assigned cohort, during and outside of class hours
- Model professional job search behaviors during class, including delivering a personal pitch, answering interview questions, and sharing relevant experiences and perspectives
- Participate and/or support BA X82C mock interviews, as needed
- Serve as liaison between MS students and the instructor
- Hold weekly office hours
Commitment Requirements
- BA X82C TA appointments are for the Fall semester only at 10 hours per week
- CMCR Student Worker Onboarding (I-9): August TBD
- Mandatory TA Training: Sunday, August 9, 2026, 6:30–7:30 pm CT (Virtual)
- Weekly touch-base meeting with the BA X82C Instructor
- Attendance at all class meetings of the assigned section of BA X82C
Required Qualifications
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must be a University of Texas at Austin student, enrolled for at least 9 credit hours.
- Class of 2027 degree-seeking FTMBA candidate
- GPA of 3.0 or above by August 2026
- Remain registered in courses that count toward the graduate degree for at least 9 semester hours during the Fall semester
- Eligible for a 10-hour student appointment (i.e., not planning to hold another TA-ship or GRA appointment concurrently)
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated interest in career development, coaching, or student services
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Prior experience in coaching, advising, mentorship, or peer leadership roles
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel) and remote communication platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams
Monthly Rate
- $928.74 a month
- Tuition Reduction Benefit: $1,892
Working Conditions
- May work under standard office and classroom conditions
- Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings as needed to support class meetings and student office hours
