Principal Product Designer

Position Summary

We are looking for a Principal Product Designer to own the most complex and ambiguous design challenges across the organization. This role represents the highest level of individual design craft, combining deep expertise in user experience and visual design with organization-wide influence on design direction, quality, and practice.

Responsibilities

• Own the design of the most complex, ambiguous, and high-impact initiatives across the product portfolio
• Lead the end-to-end design process from problem framing and user research through user flows, interaction design, and high-fidelity visual design
• Set the bar for design craft and quality across the organization, defining what excellence looks like
• Translate problems and opportunities identified by Product Management and UX Research into design solutions that address customer needs and business objectives
• Apply Jobs to be Done framework to deeply understand customer motivations and desired outcomes
• Mentor Lead and Senior designers, elevating design capability across the entire team
• Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and UX Research leadership to shape product direction
• Define and evolve design principles, standards, and best practices adopted across squads
• Identify systemic design problems and drive solutions that span multiple products and teams
• Contribute to the evolution of the design system by proposing new patterns, components, and foundations based on product needs
• Define and track success metrics, validate design solutions, and iterate based on data and user feedback
• Lead design critiques, workshops, and cross-functional sessions to solve complex problems
• Present and defend design decisions to executive leadership and stakeholders

Requirements

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in product design, preferably in SaaS or fintech products
• Exceptional portfolio demonstrating mastery of end-to-end design work from research to high-fidelity execution
• Exceptional visual design aesthetic combined with deep UX expertise
• Proven track record of owning and delivering complex, ambiguous initiatives with full autonomy
• Deep understanding of Jobs to be Done framework and user-centered design methodologies
• Expert proficiency with Figma, including advanced component work and design systems
• Strong experience conducting user research and usability testing
• Demonstrated ability to mentor senior-level designers and influence design practice at an organizational level
• Experience defining and tracking design success metrics with product and research teams
• Excellent stakeholder management and presentation skills, including experience presenting to executive leadership
• Strong experience working within and contributing to design systems
• Expert understanding of interaction design and motion design principles
• Familiarity with HTML/CSS, React and Flutter and front-end development concepts
• Experience with content management tools such as Lokalise, Ditto, or similar platforms
• Experience with A/B testing and data-driven design decisions
• Understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices
• Proven track record of shipping successful products at scale
