About The Role

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following

  • Strategic and Product Engineering Leadership
  • Translate product portfolio priorities and business objectives into clear engineering goals, investment themes, capacity plans, and measurable outcomes.
  • Partner with Product Management and Architecture to shape executable roadmaps that balance customer value, platform modernization, quality, security, and maintainability.
  • Anticipate future product, scale, compliance, and operational needs, and influence engineering plans accordingly.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment for major product portfolio initiatives, dependencies, risks, and delivery trade-offs.
  • Portfolio Delivery and Governance
  • Provide portfolio-level oversight across engineering teams supporting the product portfolio to ensure commitments are realistic, risks are visible, and delivery outcomes are predictable.
  • Establish governance mechanisms for planning, execution reviews, release readiness, quality health, dependency management, and stakeholder communication.
  • Use engineering and product metrics to improve delivery predictability, quality, productivity, and operational performance.
  • Support budget planning, capacity forecasting, hiring prioritization, and investment trade-off decisions across the product portfolio.
  • Engineering Excellence and Operational Maturity
  • Raise the engineering bar across architecture, secure SDLC, design reviews, testing strategy, CI/CD, observability, release quality, and production readiness.
  • Drive improvements in reliability, performance, scalability, incident learning, vulnerability management, and customer-impacting defect reduction.
  • Promote consistent engineering standards across teams while enabling Engineering Managers and technical leads to own team-level execution.
  • Champion the responsible adoption of automation and AI-assisted engineering practices that improve productivity, quality, and customer value.
  • Product Portfolio Modernization and Technical Directio
  • Partner with Architecture and senior engineers to evolve the product portfolio's technical roadmap, reduce technical debt, and improve long-term maintainability.
  • Sponsor modernization initiatives that improve platform resilience, scalability, user experience, cloud readiness, data capabilities, and integration patterns.
  • Ensure major engineering decisions consider customer impact, enterprise SaaS requirements, security, compliance, total cost of ownership, and operational sustainability.
  • People Leadership and Organizational Growth
  • Build and scale a high-performing engineering organization through strong hiring, leadership development, succession planning, and retention practice.
  • Coach Engineering Managers and senior technical leaders to improve ownership, decision-making, communication, and execution maturity.
  • Create an inclusive, accountable, and collaborative engineering culture that supports innovation, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with People Success and senior leaders on organization design, performance calibration, compensation inputs, and talent growth plans.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related discipline; master’s degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of relevant experience, including 7+ years in engineering leadership for enterprise SaaS products or platforms.
  • Proven experience leading through managers and senior technical leaders across multiple engineering teams.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise SaaS engineering, including scalability, performance, security, reliability, CI/CD, observability, and production operations.
  • Experience partnering with Product, Architecture, Cloud Operations, Security, Support, and Customer Success teams in a global product organization.
  • Ability to use KPIs, engineering metrics, financial inputs, and business context to make data-driven decisions.
  • Experience with Agile delivery at scale, engineering governance, planning, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
  • Excellent communication, executive presence, people leadership, coaching, influencing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in financial close, reconciliation, accounting software, banking, payments, ERP integrations, or finance transformation is preferred.
  • Experience working with distributed engineering teams and offshore/global delivery models is preferred.
