Job Summary

  • The Project Manager 1 contributes to the organization, operation, and growth of leading-edge health
  • data and policy projects that transform healthcare across the nation. The PM 1 works simultaneously on
  • more than one project on a cross-functional team led by a Project Director or client designee. The PM 1
  • is responsible for all project management tasks, including establishing and maintaining resources and
  • artifacts in accordance with FHC principles. The PM 1 is supervised by a Senior Consultant or more
  • senior member of the FHC team.

Duties/ Responsibilities

  • Conducts research on diverse topics (internet, academic journals, publicly available data

resources)

  • Presents information in a range of formats (PowerPoint, written summaries, spreadsheets)
  • Prepares working drafts of documents for team members’ review; incorporates edits to create

well formatted, client-ready, final versions

  • Arranges meetings, prepares agendas, provides meeting summaries
  • Compiles action items and reports on completion
  • Formulates action plans with support from project leadership
  • Develops working knowledge of project management tools/techniques to support ongoing

project efforts

  • Contributes to use of appropriate project management tools and scrum strategies to advance

the project goals and timeline

  • Develop client-specific document management, organization and operational processes to

support specific project outcomes

  • Conforms to policies and procedures in Employee Handbook
  • Manage complex projects with multiple workstreams
  • Facilitate internal and client meetings, set agendas, and summarize follow-ups according to

schedule as reviewed and approved by FHC Project Director

  • Develop, monitor, and report on project budgets, staffing resources, and deadlines.
  • Draft/compile materials for invoicing and submit to FHC Director of Business and Finance
  • Use FHC project management tools/techniques to develop, implement, and maintain workplans

and timelines for multiple projects, as appropriate to the specific project and team.

  • Report on progress to project director on an agreed upon schedule.
  • Deploy agile and scrum methodology when appropriate
  • Identify and propose strategies or actions to mitigate risks to the project’s success
  • Develop best possible version (client ready) drafts of supporting materials (slide decks, agendas,

notes, action items, etc.) for review by Project Director

  • As appropriate, ensure that project deliverables are properly scoped, documented, and vetted
  • with the Data Science, the Policy & Program team members and the Project Director during the
  • planning stage.
  • Develop deliverables schedules in consultation with all project team members.
  • Support the team in developing deliverables, including drafting written deliverables (e.g.,
  • narrative project descriptions, action plans, topic briefs, literature reviews, etc.), slide decks,
  • spreadsheets, tables, business requirements and analytic plans.
  • Contribute to RFPs and other bid proposals as appropriate.
  • Perform research and literature reviews; translate results into clear, concise findings to support

project work

  • Coordinate communications among client staff, FHC project team members, subject matter

experts, and other stakeholders during the lifetime of a project

  • Conform to FHC data governance principles/requirements.
  • Participate in internal FHC development and knowledge gathering activities.

  • Excellent self-motivation and time management skills, with the ability to thrive in a remote work

  • Experience creating and carrying out step-by-step work plans
  • Strong formal and informal interpersonal skills
  • Attentiveness to evolving client needs
  • Excellent written communication skills in varied formats (e.g., action-oriented emails, brief

meeting summaries/action items, and concise, audience-appropriate slide decks)

  • Detail oriented, strong organizational skills, exceptional follow-through, and task management
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Excel
  • Knowledge of, or interest in, health care data, public healthcare payers, US health care policy and

law

  • Capacity to assign tasks and monitor task completion by others
  • Assume responsibility for tasks as appropriate during planning phase, then initiate and execute

self-assignments with minimal direct supervision

  • Create step-by-step completion plans for deliverables created by cross-functional teams with a

wide range of skill sets

  • Exercise strong interpersonal skills and confident speaking style
  • Meeting facilitation skills and expertise, including agenda development, discussion framing, issue

prioritization, open issues identification and definition, creation of action items

  • Provides excellent written communication skills in varied formats including but not limited to
  • action-oriented emails, meeting summaries/action items, and concise, audience-appropriate
  • slide decks)
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
  • Provide timely email responses
  • Maintain highest standards of professionalism in all meetings (internal and external)
  • Conforms to policies and procedures in Employee Handbook
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Excel
  • Capacity to deliver client-ready documents or materials, including editing and formatting
  • Familiarity with one or more cloud-based project management tools
  • Experience developing Gantt charts, project timelines, and budgets
  • Knowledge of, or interest in, multi-payer databases, public healthcare payers, claims processing

and/or claims data analytics

Acquired during employment

  • Facility with FHC project management tools and techniques
  • Advanced project management training

Education and Experience Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience managing complex projects, preferably related to health policy, health

care reform, analytic data projects and/or health data strategy

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Master’s degree in related field or current project management certification (PMP, Agile,

Disciplined Agile)

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
