About The Role

What You'll Be Working On

The National AI Group (NAIG) within the Smart Nation Group is responsible for driving the implementation of our refreshed National AI Strategy (NAIS 2.0), in partnership with government, industry, and research stakeholders.

We're seeking a dynamic and driver officer to drive the Government's artificial intelligence initiatives and transformation. You will be at the forefront of driving AI adoption and innovation across the Singapore Government. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape policies, drive implementation, and build lasting capabilities that will transform public service delivery.

What You'll Do

  • Formulate and execute policies and strategies to drive AI adoption across the public sector
  • Drive the adoption of AI solutions across government agencies, identifying high-impact use cases and coordinating their implementation
  • Establish governance frameworks and standards for safe, responsible AI use in the public sector
  • Identify and prioritise high-impact AI use cases across government domains. Coordinate with GovTech and agencies to develop and scale AI solutions.
  • Develop and implement AI capability building programs for public officers
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with industry, academia, and government stakeholders
  • Support senior leadership in strategic communications and international engagement on AI initiatives

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in public sector, technology policy, or related fields
  • Experience in policy formulation and implementation (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of AI technologies and their practical applications
  • Proven track record in stakeholder management and driving complex initiatives
  • Excellent strategic thinking and analytical capabilities
  • Outstanding writing and communication skills with ability to engage diverse audiences

Work Experience & Competencies

  • Familiarity with emerging technology and capabilities, and technical knowledge/skills in artificial intelligence/machine learning/data management preferred (This role does not require you to be an engineer or to develop the technical solution, but will require you to be familiar enough with AI to be able to identify opportunities for use cases, understand the policy implications/limitations, and collaborate with the technical team. )

  • People-skills to drive collaboration across government

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage a wide spectrum of external and internal stakeholders; including multi-agency and inter-departmental teams
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills, along with multi-tasking capabilities, to get things done in a fast-paced environment, and orchestrate collaborations with stakeholders
  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills
  • Resourceful and proactive, able to identify opportunities and work around ambiguity
