Description of Job Duty

Coaching: Includes knowledge and technical expertise, ability to develop skills in players, teaching ability and methodology, game management, and effective program discipline and motivational techniques. Student-Athlete Welfare: Includes commitment to the welfare and safety of student-athletes, efforts to facilitate academic success, cooperation with academic units and counselors, and commitment to the social development of students. Recruiting: Includes effective recruiting, professional relationships with coaches in the recruiting base, and success of previous recruits. Compliance: Includes knowledge of and adherence to NCAA, conference and TTU rules, regulations and policies. Performance: Includes level performance of team and positions coached, ability to attract support for the program, commitment to the University, and professional relationships with departmental and campus staff and community members.

Essential Functions

Assists the head coach with all aspects of the tennis program including practices and conditioning, player development, recruiting, public relations, and supporting the academic development and graduation of student-athletes. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Proven record of collegiate or professional tennis playing and/or coaching experience. Education and experience necessary to perform all the functions of a Division I Assistant Tennis Coach. Commitment to adhere to NCAA and conference rules and regulations as well as University policies and procedures. Beyond meeting minimum requirements, candidates will be evaluated in terms of how their experience and education have prepared them for Division I assistant coaching including the academic development and graduation of student-athletes, promoting the welfare of student-athletes, recruiting, practice, conditioning, player and public relations, and fundraising. Coaching philosophy must complement the philosophy of the head coach.
