About The Role

Mission

Virginia Urology will provide access to individualized, quality, and compassionate urological care from a highly specialized and diverse teams while maintaining a fulfilling work environment.

Overall Objective

As a radiology technologist, you will work in clinic office settings and in an ambulatory surgery center with state-of-the-art medical equipment and interact with a diverse range of urology patients. You will work as part of a medical team under the direction of the Director of Imaging.

Principal Activities and Expected End Results

  • Use radiologic imaging to diagnose and treat patients as order indicated.
  • Explain procedures to patients in layperson’s terms and confirm patient understanding
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety for the duration of the appointment
  • Prepare, position, and immobilize patients prior to conducting scans
  • Perform radiologic tests to obtain clear and correct body scans
  • Perform complex examinations and general diagnostic procedures,
  • Operate and maintain highly specialized medical equipment, preparing needed supplies
  • Follow all radiological safety procedures and guidelines
  • Notify radiologist of test results and identify results that require immediate attention
  • Notify supervisor of any issues with or malfunctions of equipment
  • Collaborate with radiologists, urologists, imaging director, and other medical staff for efficient patient care
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Work various shifts and office locations Monday through Friday and Saturday clinics. Department hours: 7:00a- 5:00p

Requirements

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience

  • Associate degree in radiography or radiologic technology
  • Completion of a specialized certificate program in radiologic technology
  • Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and Virginia state license
  • Able to work independently while closely coordinating with clinical staff
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills to manage patients and family members in an empathetic manner
  • Strong listening skills and the ability to build rapport with patients
  • Maintain a professional demeanor

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience

  • Experience working in an imaging department and/or urology practice
  • Highly organized and able to work independently
  • Microsoft Office and EMR

Prior Work Experience

  • Previous experience working in an X-ray Technologist role in a clinical, hospital, or outpatient setting

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8–10 hours per shift)
  • Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling of patients and equipment (up to 50 pounds, with assistance as needed)
  • Ability to assist in transferring and positioning patients, including those with limited mobility
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching
  • Manual dexterity to operate imaging equipment and computer systems
  • Visual acuity to assess imaging quality and patient positioning
  • Ability to wear lead protective equipment for extended periods
