ABOUT THE ROLE
The Accounting Clerk II for the Center for Assistive Technology Training (CATT) performs a wide range of accounting, administrative, and logistical duties. Reporting directly to the Director of CATT, this role is responsible for processing financial transactions, maintaining ledger integrity, handling travel and purchasing records, ordering supplies for offices and conferences, and ensuring full compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Basic Qualifications
- Education: Minimum of a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Experience: Three (3) years of recent work experience in accounting, OR zero to two (0–2) years of experience with twelve (12) hours of accounting-related college courses.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial & Accounting Operations
- Transaction Entry: Enter financial transactions into appropriate computer software and operate computers programmed with accounting software to record, store, and analyze information.
- Document Examination: Examine documents for completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards.
- Account Classification & Coding: Classify, record, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and maintain financial records using journals, ledgers, or software, coding documents according to company procedures.
- Reconciliation & Auditing: Compare computer printouts to manually maintained journals to verify matches, reconcile or balance financial records, and detect discrepancies in reports.
- Account Status Monitoring: Access computerized financial data to answer general and account-specific questions while monitoring account status to ensure payments and receipts remain current.
- Software Proficiency: Proficient with computers, Microsoft Office software (including high competency in spreadsheet creation and data management), and accounting software platforms such as NextGen or Oracle.
- Accounting Principles: Demonstrated working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Administrative & Program Logistics
- Purchasing & Receivables: Prepare purchasing and receiving paperwork in accordance with agency guidelines.
- Supply Ordering: Order necessary supplies for CATT offices, camps, and regional conferences.
- Travel Coordination: Assist with travel logistics, including making reservations and completing travel requests and reimbursement documentation.
- General Office Support: Perform general office duties such as filing, answering telephones, maintaining organized records and files, and handling routine correspondence.
- Analytical Skills: Must think analytically, possess acute attention to detail, and adapt well to change.
- Communication & Independence: Ability to communicate effectively, work independently, and meet established deadlines.
Professional Development and Certifications
- Sign Language Proficiency: Must obtain an SLPI proficiency level of SURVIVOR within twelve (12) months of employment and SURVIVOR PLUS within twenty-four (24) months of employment.
- Confidentiality: Handle sensitive or restricted information in a professional and confidential manner.
- Travel Requirements: Ability to travel in-state and nationally as needed to support CATT initiatives.

- Salary Range: $19.91 - $23.93
- (260 workdays) Direct deposit is required
This is a non-exempt position and is subject to overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
