Learning Centre Teacher

Position: Learning Centre Teacher

Reporting to: Principal

Location: Eskasoni Elementary & Middle School

Employment term: September 1, 2026 to August 31, 2027

Requirements

• Valid NS teacher certification
• Masters in Special or Inclusive Education an asset
• Learning centre teaching experience
• Knowledge and experience with technology applications to enhance instruction and learning. (ie: google classroom, etc)
• Proficiency in Google Workspace, email and basic computer skills
• Knowledge of Mi’kmaq culture, traditions and language an asset
• Knowledge and experience implementing inclusive teaching strategies for students with academic and behavioral needs
• Ability to work closely with TA’s to oversee and ensure appropriate educational programming
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong classroom and student management and ability to create structured and engaging learning environments

Salary: According to Eskasoni Teacher Salary Scale

• Closing date: August 14, 2026 at 3:00 PM
• In accordance with the Eskasoni Teachers' Union Local 80510 Collective Bargaining unit members will be given preference.
• Preference will be given to Indigenous people in accordance with the Aboriginal Employment preferences policy of the Canadian Human Rights Commission.
• Successful applicant will be required to provide satisfactory criminal record with vulnerable sector check and NS child abuse registry check prior to commencing employment.
