About The Role
Do you want to make a lasting difference to children and young people with additional needs? If you are passionate about inclusion and committed to improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND, social, emotional and mental health needs, and other barriers to learning, this could be the role for you.
As an Inclusion Practitioner, you will work directly with children, families and educational settings to support successful inclusion and improved outcomes for children and young people with additional needs. You will play a key role in helping schools build their capacity to meet the needs of learners with SEND, social, emotional and behavioural needs, and those presenting with concerning, challenging or difficult behaviours.
Working across Eastbourne and Hailsham, you will provide practical, specialist support to schools and families, helping to develop inclusive approaches and ensuring children can successfully engage with education. You will work closely with the Inclusion Adviser, educational settings and partner agencies to deliver person-centred, outcomes-focused interventions and support plans.
We are looking for candidates who
- Level 3 qualification in a relevant field (e.g. in social care or health or equivalent experience working directly with children/young people with Autism e.g. learning mentor/tutor, teaching assistant, HLTA, Individual Needs Assistant, Autism support worker).
- Have experience supporting children and young people with SEND, social, emotional and mental health needs, and challenging behaviours
- Understand safeguarding requirements and the legislative framework surrounding education and SEND
- Interpersonal and communication skills and ability to engage with children, families and setting staff
- Have experience developing and delivering individual and group interventions
