About The Role

Under the direct supervision of licensed clinical staff, assists the therapists in routine tasks for therapeutic treatment of patients. Assists the department supervisor/manager in coordinating the overall department’s function and maintenance.

Compensation Pay Range

$18.20 - $26.00

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Patient Care
  • a. Supports licensed staff: Assist with patient care activities as directed by therapist. Activities are specific to each area and may include, but are not limited to
  • i. Patient room/treatment area set ups for treatment
  • ii. Set up patients on exercise equipment
  • iii. Activities related to video fluoroscopic swallow studies
  • iv. Provide second person assist
  • v. Obtain assistive devices (Hoyer, Spryte, etc.) as needed
  • vi. Obtain durable medical equipment and paperwork
  • b. Provides treatment to assigned patients as appropriate under the direct supervision of clinical staff
  • c. Performs activities that help maintain flow of patient care in the department.
  1. Environment and Department Maintenance/Infection Control
  • a) Assists in the maintenance of the department’s overall physical environment
  • b) Maintains practices according to infection control guidelines for the department
  • c) Monitors pool chemistry per departmental guidelines as applicable to area
  • d) Cleans and disinfects equipment per departmental guidelines
  • e) Performs and documents quality control of identified equipment
  • f) Documents temperature checks of identified equipment
  • g) Performs daily, weekly, and monthly departmental checklists
  • h) Maintains organization and cleanliness of the DME and supply closets
  • i) Completes audits for walkers, gait belts and chairs on patient units as applicable to area
  1. Clerical Duties : Performs clerical duties to assist with daily operations of the department including:
  • a. Scheduling appointments as applicable to area
  • b. Answering phones
  • c. Calling patients as directed
  • d. Inventory management
  • e. Photocopying and filing
  • f. Faxing and scanning
  • g. Data collection
  • h. Daily/weekly/monthly departmental checklists
  • i. Co-payment/payment collection as applicable
  1. Communication
  • a. Communicates effectively with staff, peers, colleagues, patients, and family members
  • b. Alerts manager/clinician to any immediate departmental/patient issues
  • c. Appropriately uses all forms of South Shore Health communication in accordance with standard practices
  • d. Responds in a timely manner when feedback is requested
  1. Educational Activities
  • a. Serves as mentor to new rehabilitation aide staff
  • b. Actively participates in department projects/events/activities/meetings
  • c. Actively promotes rehabilitation services to frontline colleagues, patients, and families
  • d. Serves as departmental ambassador to visitors (tours/observation of patient care)
  • e. Assists with continuous Quality Improvement activities, as directed
  • f. Takes responsibility for continuing professional development education

Non-Essential Functions

  1. Demonstrates willingness to identify and/or assume activities relative to the developmental needs of the department and hospital
  2. Performs other duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum Education - Required
  • High School diploma/GED

Minimum Work Experience

  • One (1) year healthcare–related experience preferred.
  • Previous rehabilitation experience desirable.
  • Varied hours. Clinic open 7 am to 7:30 pm
