About The Role
- Assists patients with non-clinical needs and ensures patients are comfortable
- Assists with skin preparation if required for pre-operative patients
- Provides portering services where applicable
- Collects and returns medical record files from the various departments
- Assists with patient meals times where appropriate
- Transports patients from one unit to another within the Hospital via wheelchair, stretcher or bed
- Demonstrates good bed making skills and ensures patients bed linen is changed daily at a minimum and more when required.
- Ensures quantity of bed linen is sufficient on a daily basis
- Responsible for cleaning of non-critical equipment/surfaces and daily dusting
- Transfers patients from bed to stretcher/wheelchair
- Transports specimens to Laboratory
- Assists with any administrative duties as required such as photocopying etc
- Escorts/guides patients/family/visitors to various departments within the hospital where necessary
- Provides excellent customer service to patients and families.
- Assisting with top of unit stores/consumables
- Ensures correct infection control protocol is followed when transporting soiled/clean instruments to and from CSSD as needed
- Demonstrates correct infection control practices
- Responsible for attending mandatory trainings as specified by the Organization.
- Assists colleagues, Supervisors, shift leaders or team members when not busy.
- Assisting patients with their belongings when discharged.
- Escorts patients to their vehicle by wheelchair or walking when discharged from the Hospital
- Prepares daily coffee and dates and distributes them to designated areas within the Hospital for the public
- Responsible for Inpatient room readiness for new admissions
- Ensures inpatients have easy access to basic needs like water, tissues, TV remote control
- Follows the reporting mechanisms / chain of command in the department ensuring all issues are accurately and promptly reported.
- Participates in orientation of new Ward Attendant to the wards
- Completes required annual competencies
- Demonstrates an economical approach to the utilization of supplies while assisting the Charge nurse to maintain an appropriate ward stock.
- Demonstrates strict adherence to all hospital policies and procedures
- Demonstrates knowledge and participates in fire safety, patient safety, infection control and the other necessary precautionary measures as per hospital

- Ability to work flexible shifts.
- Good command of oral and written English. Spoken Arabic advantageous.
- Possess a “can do” attitude and a flexible approach.
- Ability to multi task within the team and possess good interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and in a team
- Demonstrates knowledge and practice of confidentiality policy.
- Demonstrate motivation to work in a health care environment.
