A banner enterprise of the Tulane Department of Neurology is the Healthy Brain Aging Initiative. This initiative, located at University Medical Center, includes a dedicated team of neurologists, neuropsychologists/psychometrists, advanced practice providers, social workers, and neuroscientists, aiming to promote healthy brain aging through its Center for Alzheimer’s Prevention, its Center for Memory Disorders, and its Center for Parkinson’s Disease. Through their partnership with LCMC Health, Tulane and LSU Neurology faculty are collaborating to build the region’s only multi-institutional healthy brain aging initiative, and the largest and most comprehensive program in the Gulf South region.
This is a clinical, teaching, and research position. It is estimated that the Movement Disorders neurologist will dedicate 80% effort to clinical practice (outpatient based) and 20% effort to scholarly activities, though the FTE distributions may vary slightly over time as needed.
Roles and responsibilities include
§ Outpatient clinical practice dedicate to Parkinson’s disease and related movement disorders
§ Teaching of medical students and residents as assigned
§ Participation in industry sponsored and investigator initiated clinical trials research according to interest and as opportunities arise
§ Serve on institutional and departmental committees, actively participate in departmental conferences such as Neurology Grand Rounds, Morbidity & Mortality Conference, and faculty meetings
