This is an entry level Materials Engineer 1 role. This role is onsite, in Rockford, IL.
What You Will Do
- You will participate on multidisciplinary engineering teams as the chemical/materials engineer for quality investigations.
- You will apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to validate hardware and/or process conforms to related specification requirements.
- You will interpret specification requirements and communicate with Collins Operations sites and suppliers as required.
- You will work on short term project management and collaboration with Collins engineering teams to solve materials and process challenges.
What You Will Learn
- You will gain training and skill development to support RRCA and process improvement activities.
- You will have opportunities to collaborate with Materials & Process subject matter experts and technical fellows
- You will learn to interpret and update aerospace material drawings and specifications.
- You will receive training to operate and interpret results from state-of-the-art analytical instrumentation.
- You will receive training to become a CORE Apprentice using the Collins CORE operating system methods and tools.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or related Science, Technology,Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date.
- Experience in technical evaluations, communication, and reporting.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
As part of our commitment to maintaining a secure hiring process, candidates may be asked to attend select steps of the interview process in-person at one of our office locations, regardless of whether the role is designated as on-site, hybrid or remote.
The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
