About The Role
TRAINING COMPONENTS AND LEARNING ELEMENTS
The Intern will gain experience in working in an international multicultural environment, within the United Nations system.
- Gain experience in organization, management, and international cooperation activities.
- Gain a better understanding of IOM’s work, as an inter-governmental organization in the field of Migration, and work on formulating and editing institutional strategies, priorities and workplans.
- The Intern can also access online training courses at the disposal of all IOM staff.
- The Intern will have the possibility to interact with IOM staff within Headquarters and IOM Missions and external implementing partners.
SKILLS
- A bility to liaise effectively and professionally with counterparts and a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications and software, particularly the Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and experience in website maintenance is an asset.
- A bility to handle sensitive information with the highest level of confidentiality and discretion.
- Strong responsiveness, flexibility, and ability to manage urgent requests in a timely manner.
ELIGIBILITY AND SELECTION
In general, the Internship Programme aims at attracting talented students and graduates who
- a) have a interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities;
- b) are either enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme
- (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) or have graduated in the last 12 months.
- Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted, and additional enquiries will only be addressed if the candidate is shortlisted.
- Depending on experience and location, IOM provides a small monthly stipend to help offset costs.

Support the Organization of the Career Development Roundtable (CDR) 2026
- Assist in the planning, coordination, and delivery of the annual CDR.
- Support with participant registration and related inquiries.
- Support the delivery of the conference and parallel events including the Career Fair and
dinner/evening receptions.
- Provide assistance to keynote speakers and clinic presenters at the event.
- Participate in preparatory and planning meetings.
- Assist in liaising with suppliers and other event contributors.
- Support with liaison and coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia and other stakeholders in Tallinn.
- Perform such other duties that may be assigned.
EDUCATION
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Communications, Public Admiration, International Relations or a related field from an accredited academic institution with relevant professional experience.
EXPERIENCE
Relevant professional experience in Human Resources and/or project or event management is desirable.
