About The Role

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a high-impact, early-stage opportunity to be the voice and face of a fast-moving ambient AI startup to its most engaged users. As Community Operations Lead, you'll build and nurture a thriving community from the ground up — across platforms like Discord, X, and beyond — while shaping how the company connects with users, gathers insights, and fuels authentic growth.

You'll work closely with the General Manager and cross-functional partners in product, research, and go-to-market, helping to define the scope of this role as it evolves. This is a hybrid role based in San Francisco, CA. Visa sponsorship is not available.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Build and own the community presence across platforms where early users are most active (Discord, X, etc.)
  • Drive day-to-day community operations: moderation, engagement, health monitoring, and platform management
  • Plan and coordinate community events and touchpoints — both digital and in-person
  • Partner with product and research teams to leverage the community for UX research, user studies, and feedback loops
  • Collaborate with go-to-market teams to execute coordinated campaigns with highly engaged community members
  • Represent the company's values and vision as a key, trusted figure within the community
  • Define processes and build playbooks from scratch as the work surfaces and evolves

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required (Dealbreakers)

  • 2+ years of direct experience building or meaningfully growing an online community for a B2C or prosumer product
  • Demonstrated experience managing community operations including moderation, engagement, and day-to-day management across platforms such as Discord, X, or similar
  • Proven ability to make independent decisions, resolve conflicts, and drive user engagement without predefined processes or playbooks

Also Required

  • Experience coordinating and executing community events, both digital and in-person
  • Experience partnering with product and research teams to conduct user research, gather feedback, and inform product decisions
  • Experience executing go-to-market campaigns and coordinating with marketing or GTM teams
  • Operational capability to define scope, prioritize work, and manage ambiguous or evolving responsibilities

Nice to Have

  • In-person event coordination and logistics experience
  • Multilingual proficiency

You'll thrive here if you are

  • A self-directed, scrappy operator who is comfortable — even energized — by ambiguity
  • Product-minded and deeply curious about users
  • Equally comfortable engaging one-on-one with community members and stepping back to think strategically about community health

LOCATION
